The Road to... a series of large photographs, 24"x30" and 40"x50", of the ongoing construction of Highway 69 between Parry Sound and Sudbury. These were taken with a vintage Burke and James 4"x5" press camera on Kodak Ektar film, scanned with an Imacon 949 scanner and digitally printed. This work was shown in the Gore Bay Museum, Gore Bay, Manitoulin Island, Summer, 2012. Special thanks to the Ontario Arts Council for Exhibition Assistance and the Art Gallery of Sudbury for the recommendation. Several were accepted in the Upstream People Gallery, 16th Annual Painting, Drawing, Photography & Print Juried Online International Art Exhibition "DOUGAL BICHAN of Toronto, ON, Canada is a brilliant photographer. Look closely at the high definition throughout. His work is as great as the well known photographer Ansel Adams who was able to get such clarity. "Cleared Tree Line, Drummond River, Highway 69", "Rock Crushing Near Drummond River, Highway 69", "Rock Face Near Wanup, Ontario", "Rock Island Lake Highway 69"/ and "Shrine South of Shawanaga" are all astonishing!" - Laurence Bradshaw Curator, Professor of Art. In addition all five received a "Special Recognition" Award. The exhibition will be featured until the end of December, and then moved to the Archive section. |
